Invoicing software

What does invoicing software cost?

2026-10-03

Pricing for invoicing software varies more than you might expect, which makes it hard to compare apples to apples without understanding the models involved. Here are the most common ways invoicing software charges, and what to keep an eye on.

Free tier

Many providers offer a limited free tier, for example a certain number of invoices per month or in total. It's a good way to try a service before committing, but rarely enough long-term for a business invoicing regularly.

Pay per invoice

Some services let you buy a pack of credits, for example 10 or 50 invoices, and pay more once you use them up. This model suits businesses that invoice irregularly or rarely, since you only pay for what you actually use.

Monthly or annual subscription

A subscription usually gives you unlimited or a large number of invoices for a fixed amount each month or year. If you invoice often, for example weekly, this is often cheaper per invoice than buying credits one at a time.

Per user

Some tools charge per user with access to the account, which can get expensive if several team members need to log in, while other services have a flat price regardless of user count.

Full accounting software

If you compare against a full accounting platform, which handles ongoing bookkeeping, annual reports, and tax filing in addition to invoicing, the price is usually considerably higher, since you're paying for far more functionality than invoicing alone.

What should you actually compare?

  • Roughly how many invoices do you send per month?
  • Are features you actually need, like recurring invoices or credit notes, included, or do they cost extra?
  • Is there a minimum commitment, or can you cancel anytime?
  • Can you export your data if you want to switch providers later?

FakturaKlar is a focused invoicing tool, not a full accounting system. You can start with five free invoices with no commitment, then choose between buying invoice credits or a subscription depending on how often you invoice. See our pricing page for current prices.
