ROT/RUT tax deductions
Record ROT/RUT details on an invoice that's already been paid, and export a file you can upload directly in Skatteverket's e-service.
How it works in FakturaKlar
The feature lives on the invoice's own page, not on the create-invoice form, since most invoices aren't ROT or RUT work and the details aren't even known until the customer has actually paid. Once an invoice to a private customer has a recorded payment, you can add the buyer's personal number, the price for the work, which work categories were performed (for example construction, electrical, or cleaning), and how much you're claiming back. The amount paid and payment date are pulled automatically from the payments you've already recorded, so you don't have to type them in again.
No automatic submission, but the right format
Skatteverket has no public API for submitting ROT/RUT claims automatically, that's true for every invoicing tool, not just FakturaKlar. The correct way is to upload an XML file through Skatteverket's own e-service ("Rot och rut, företag"). FakturaKlar builds that file for you, in exactly the format Skatteverket requires, so you can select one or more invoices from the invoice list and export them together (up to 100 claims per file, and ROT and RUT can't be mixed in the same file).
Private customers only
ROT/RUT is a personal tax deduction tied to the buyer's own personal number, it's never valid for an invoice billed to a company, regardless of who did the work. If the customer is registered as a business in FakturaKlar, the ROT/RUT feature simply doesn't show up on that invoice.
Frequently asked questions
Does FakturaKlar submit the claim to Skatteverket for me?
No, Skatteverket has no public API for that. You upload the file FakturaKlar builds through their own e-service, using your own BankID.
Can I claim a ROT or RUT deduction on an invoice to a business?
No, the deduction is personal and requires the buyer's own personal number, it never applies to invoices billed to a company.
Do I need to enter the amount and payment date manually?
No, the amount paid and payment date are pulled automatically from the payment you've already recorded on the invoice.
Can I mix ROT and RUT invoices in one export?
No, Skatteverket's format only allows one type per file, but you can export ROT and RUT as two separate files.
